Dormitory

Use of the UNC IMS dormitory MUST be for UNC or Marine Science related activities.

Student accommodations are comprised of two 8-person bunk rooms (one room is reserved for female students and one for male students).  Towels and linens are not provided.

Faculty accommodations are comprised of two rooms, one for two people and one for four (two bunk beds), plus common room with microwave and refrigerator.  Towels and linens are provided.

Reservations may be made in advance according to the following schedule:
UNC IMS individuals/groups: Reservations may be made up to 12 months in advance.
UNC-CH individuals/groups: Reservations may be made up to 6 months in advance.
Other: Reservations may be made up to 3 months in advance.

Rates
Student accommodations: $10 per night per person
Faculty accommodations: $30 per night for one bedroom; $60 for both bedrooms

Check In/Out
Check In 3:00 PM.  If you need to check in after 5:00 PM or over the weekend, please contact Deanna Napier at 252-726-6841 x 120 for arrangements.
Check Out 10:00 AM.

Cancellation of a reservation must be made at least 2 weeks prior to a scheduled stay. Groups will be responsible for the cost of all reserved beds that are not cancelled at least 2 weeks prior to a scheduled stay.

Please note:  Based on your length of stay and your affiliation with IMS (UNC-Chapel Hill), you may be required to have an IMS-performed background check before your reservation can be finalized.  You will be responsible for paying the associated costs that typically range between $50 – $80.  In addition, processing time may take 1-2 weeks.  Please plan accordingly.

***UNC-Chapel Hill students are excluded from this policy request as well as individuals who are under the age of 18 (legal minor) and still in high school.
